Kokshetau–Zerenda highway upgrade slashes accidents by 40%

A major overhaul of the Kokshetau–Zerenda highway in Akmola Region is almost finished. The upgrades have already cut accidents by 30–40%, improving safety for drivers. A 47-kilometre stretch of the road has been widened and resurfaced as part of the project. Work on the highway began last year, transforming a once-narrow 7-metre road into a wider, safer route. The project received 8 billion tenge from the regional budget, with the final asphalt layer on the 21st to 47th kilometre due for completion by July.

Beyond this highway, the region is repairing over 400 kilometres of roads in total this year. In Yessil, Zhaksy, and Yereymentau districts alone, nearly 60 kilometres of routes will be upgraded. The overall budget for road infrastructure improvements across the area stands at 72 billion tenge.

The completed upgrades will provide smoother and safer travel along the Kokshetau–Zerenda route. With fewer accidents and better road conditions, drivers can expect improved journeys. Additional repairs across the region will continue through the year.
