Khabarovsk shuts down key traffic lights for urgent transport upgrades
Traffic lights at the busy intersection of Karl Marx Street and Moskovskaya Street in Khabarovsk have been switched off for repairs. The temporary deactivation comes as part of wider upgrades to the city’s transport network. Similar work was carried out last week at another nearby junction. The reconstruction is expected to last between two and three days. During this time, traffic police will monitor the area to keep vehicles moving smoothly. Officers will also enforce road rules, just as they did during the recent upgrades at Karl Marx Street and Dikopol’tsev Street.
Extra crews have been put on standby to respond quickly if congestion or accidents occur. The city has stressed that safety and traffic flow remain a priority. The changes form part of Khabarovsk’s push to introduce a smarter, more efficient transport system. Traffic officers will be present at peak hours to guide drivers through the junction. Their role will include preventing gridlock and ensuring pedestrians can cross safely.
Once the work is complete, the traffic lights will be reactivated as part of the city’s modernised system. The upgrades aim to reduce delays and improve road safety in the long term. Drivers and pedestrians have been advised to follow police directions while the repairs continue.
