Khabarovsk's Children's Railway Gets Tax Break to Boost Youth Training

The Far Eastern Children’s Railway in Khabarovsk will soon benefit from a new tax exemption. Lawmakers have approved a bill to set a zero percent tax rate for the facility, aiming to improve training conditions for young learners. The move is part of a broader effort to support extracurricular education in the region. The Legislative Duma of Khabarovsk Krai reviewed the proposal to eliminate taxes for the children’s railway. Deputies voted unanimously in favour, amending the regional tax incentives law. The tax break will remain in place until 2028.

The railway operates as a fully functional training centre, complete with stations, terminals, and its own fleet of trains. Around 460 schoolchildren currently study there, gaining practical experience as locomotive engineers, dispatchers, and communications specialists. The facility also serves as a career guidance hub, helping young residents explore future jobs in the railway industry. Officials explained that the tax relief would free up funds for maintenance and modernisation. Savings from the exemption will be reinvested to make training more engaging and comfortable. Lawmakers emphasised the importance of supporting extracurricular programmes that prepare students for professional roles in the region.

The tax exemption will help sustain the railway’s operations and enhance its educational offerings. By reducing financial pressure, the initiative ensures that more resources can be directed toward training and infrastructure. The measure reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen vocational education in Khabarovsk Krai.
