Khabarovsk Opens Nominations for Prestigious Civic Honours in 2026
Khabarovsk has launched nominations for two civic honours: the Yakov Dyachenko Award and the Mayor's Honorary Diploma. These awards recognise residents who have made notable contributions to the city's development, culture, and social security. Nominations opened recently, with a submission deadline set for early next year.
The Yakov Dyachenko Award has been presented annually since 1998. It honours individuals—including public figures, athletes, educators, artists, and business leaders—who have advanced Khabarovsk's social progress, local initiatives, or cultural heritage. To qualify, candidates must be nominated by at least five organisations. These nominations are then submitted to district administration committees based on where the nominee's primary activities take place.
The Mayor's Honorary Diploma, titled 'For Meritorious Service to the City', targets residents whose work in the past year has directly improved Khabarovsk's prosperity or quality of life. Both awards will be formally presented during the city's birthday celebrations.
Nominations for the 2026 cycle opened this month. All submissions must be filed by March 1, 2026. Unlike some international honours, the Yakov Dyachenko Award remains a local distinction, with no widely documented history outside Khabarovsk's official records.
The awards highlight Khabarovsk's commitment to acknowledging local achievements. Winners will be announced during the city's birthday festivities, following a review of all eligible nominations. The process ensures that contributions to education, culture, business, and social programmes receive public recognition.
