Khabarovsk meat plant shut down over shocking hygiene violations
A recent inspection at a meat production plant in Khabarovsk uncovered serious breaches of food safety rules. The facility failed to meet basic hygiene standards, with multiple violations recorded during the checks. Authorities have now referred the findings to prosecutors for further action. Inspectors discovered widespread sanitary issues throughout the plant. Rust, dirt, and debris covered processing equipment, while the blast freezer showed visible black mould. The facility also stored personal items and employees’ clothing in areas meant for raw materials and meat processing.
The inspection further revealed problems with documentation. Veterinary accompanying papers were incorrectly prepared, and false details about regulated raw materials were recorded. These breaches violate the Technical Regulations on Food Safety and the Federal Law on the Quality and Safety of Food Products. Due to the severity of the infractions, all inspection materials have been sent to the Krasnoflotsky District Prosecutor’s Office in Khabarovsk. The plant’s failure to maintain proper production and storage conditions for animal-based products formed part of the report.
The case now rests with prosecutors, who will determine the next steps for enforcement. The plant’s repeated violations of veterinary and food safety laws could lead to penalties or operational restrictions. Officials have not yet announced a timeline for further action.
