Khabarovsk apartment complex flooded after pipe bursts for the second time

A ruptured pipe has caused flooding in the basement and parking garage of the Duet residential complex on Karl Marx Street in Khabarovsk. The incident, which occurred on February 4, left residents dealing with hot water spilling into the lower levels of the building.

The flooding began after a pipe in the building's utility network burst. As a result, cold water supply to the entire complex was cut off for several hours. Residents reported that this was not the first time the basement had flooded, with previous incidents already raising concerns.

The Zheleznodorozhny District Prosecutor's Office has now launched an investigation. Officials will examine whether property management and utility service companies failed to prevent or properly address the issue.

While the exact scale of similar problems across Khabarovsk remains unclear, authorities are focusing on this latest disruption. No public records currently detail how many other residential complexes in the region faced utility outages in January 2024.

The investigation will determine if negligence played a role in the repeated flooding at Duet. Residents continue to face disruptions as repairs are carried out. Officials have yet to announce when a full report will be released.
