Kazakhstan fines gas station for unregistered fuel measurement violations
The Department of Technical Regulation and Metrology for the Akmola Region under Kazakhstan's Ministry of Trade and Integration has imposed administrative penalties on QazGaz Corporation LLP, a gas filling station, following an unscheduled inspection prompted by public complaints alleging inaccuracies in fuel dispensing volumes, the ministry's press service reports.
During the inspection, officials found that one of the station's liquefied gas dispensing units was operating in serious violation of regulations. Specifically, the equipment was not registered in Kazakhstan's State System for Ensuring Measurement Uniformity and had not undergone mandatory metrological verification—a direct breach of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Ensuring Measurement Uniformity." This raised justified concerns about the accuracy of fuel volumes supplied to consumers, the agency stated.
According to the ministry, administrative action has been taken against QazGaz Corporation LLP for the violation. Under Article 419 of Kazakhstan's Code of Administrative Offenses, the company was fined 497,375 tenge in an expedited procedure. Additionally, authorities issued a binding order to rectify the violations, including a ban on operating the unverified dispensing unit until compliance was achieved.
The company has since fully complied with the directive, completing all required metrological procedures. The equipment has now been officially certified for use.
The Committee for Technical Regulation and Metrology reminds the public that anyone suspecting fuel shortfalls or malfunctioning measurement devices (scales, pumps, meters) may file an official complaint with their regional department. Each report serves as legal grounds for an unplanned inspection and enforcement action against violations.
Earlier, Ust-Kamenogorsk Airport was fined nearly 9 million tenge over excessive pricing.
