Kaspersky Trains African Police in Cyber Threat Detection and Digital Forensics
Kaspersky has completed a cybersecurity training programme for African law enforcement officers. The initiative, part of a broader cooperation with AFRIPOL, ran from November 2025 to March 2026. Around 40 officers from 23 countries took part in sessions focused on threat detection and digital investigations. The training, titled Security Operations and Threat Hunting, covered essential Security Operations Center (SOC) tasks and advanced techniques for tracking cyber threats. Participants also joined online Q&A sessions to strengthen their grasp of key concepts.
The programme targeted officers from Algeria, Benin, Cameroon, and 20 other African nations. AFRIPOL's Dr Mohammed Benaired stressed the need for practical skills in cyber incident investigations. He described such training as critical for modern law enforcement. This effort follows a 2024 agreement between Kaspersky and AFRIPOL to combat cybercrime over five years. Yuliya Shlychkova, Kaspersky's Vice President of Public Affairs, noted that collaboration between private cybersecurity firms and police is vital. Since its launch, Kaspersky Expert Training has equipped over 3,000 specialists across 50 countries with cybersecurity expertise.
The training equipped 40 officers with skills in threat hunting and incident response. It marks a step in the ongoing partnership between Kaspersky and AFRIPOL to tackle cybercrime in Africa. Further sessions are expected under the five-year cooperation agreement.
