Major upgrades are underway at the K. Satpayev Canal following a directive from the Head of State. The project focuses on modernising infrastructure to boost water supply reliability for homes and businesses across three regions.

The work includes replacing outdated equipment and installing new transformers to secure the canal’s future operation.

So far, eight new transformers have been successfully installed along the canal. A further nine are set to arrive and be fitted by the end of 2026, bringing the total to 17. These upgrades form a key part of the modernisation effort.

At the same time, five of the canal’s pumping units are being replaced. Plans call for a total of 19 units to be updated, ensuring more efficient water flow. The project covers the Karagandy, Akmola, and Pavlodar regions, where both residential and industrial users depend on the canal. The overall goal is to enhance water quality and strengthen the system’s long-term safety. By upgrading critical components, authorities aim to prevent disruptions and extend the canal’s operational lifespan.

The modernisation of the K. Satpayev Canal will continue through 2026, with new transformers and pumping units being rolled out in stages. Once complete, the improvements will support a more stable water supply for communities and industries across the three affected regions. The project also reduces risks of future breakdowns by reinforcing the canal’s infrastructure.
