Intergas Central Asia doubles down on sustainability with bold green initiatives
Intergas Central Asia JSC has ramped up its environmental efforts over the past year. The company hosted an ecological forum in Astana on World Environment Day, bringing together industry leaders to discuss sustainability in gas transportation. Recent data shows a sharp rise in spending on green initiatives, with capital investments in ecological projects jumping by 50%.
The forum in Astana centred on cutting environmental harm and embedding sustainability into gas transport operations. Akbar Tulgenov, First Deputy Chairman of QazaqGaz NC JSC, stressed that environmental priorities must remain central to the company’s strategy.
Intergas Central Asia has already taken concrete steps to reduce its footprint. The firm runs a unified waste management system across all operations, from production sites to its central office. It also conducts yearly greenhouse gas inventories, following international Scope 1 and Scope 2 standards. As part of its Low-Carbon Development Program, the company aims for steady emissions cuts by 2033. Last year, environmental spending nearly doubled, reflecting a stronger commitment to green projects. Beyond financial investments, the company has launched public initiatives like 'Plastic-Free Day', 'Earth Hour', and local clean-up campaigns. One standout effort saw over 8,000 tree saplings planted in a single green initiative. The company now ties environmental work directly to production processes. Ensuring gas transport infrastructure runs reliably goes hand in hand with reducing ecological impact.
Intergas Central Asia’s push for sustainability includes stricter emissions tracking, expanded waste management, and community-driven green projects. With investments rising and long-term targets in place, the company is aligning its operations with broader environmental goals. The recent forum in Astana underscored how these efforts are becoming a core part of its business model.
