IAA TRANSPORTATION 2026 to showcase global innovation in sustainable transport
The IAA TRANSPORTATION 2026 trade fair is set to take place in Hanover from September 15 to 20. Nearly all exhibition spaces have already been reserved, including the newly added Hall 22. Organisers report strong international interest, with 70% of exhibitors coming from outside Germany. This year’s event will feature a diverse range of participants, with 26% attending for the first time. A significant portion—27%—hails from Asia, reflecting the fair’s growing global appeal. Mercedes-Benz Vans will also make a return, joining other major industry players.
The focus will be on sustainable and innovative transport solutions. Battery-electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles, along with connected, autonomous, and AI-driven technologies, will dominate discussions. Heavy commercial vehicles, responsible for nearly 30% of CO₂ emissions in European road freight, remain a key area of concern.
The VDA, Germany’s automotive industry association, is pushing for faster expansion of charging and hydrogen refuelling stations. It also seeks more flexible regulations for heavy-duty trucks to support the transition to cleaner transport. Meanwhile, the IAA Conference will have its own dedicated area in Hall 18, offering a platform for expert discussions.
Attendees will have the chance to experience new technologies firsthand. Sixteen exhibitors will showcase 65 vehicles for test drives, with 75% of them electrically powered. IAA TRANSPORTATION 2026 will highlight the latest advancements in commercial transport, from zero-emission propulsion to digital mobility solutions. The event’s strong international participation and focus on innovation underscore its role in shaping the future of the industry. Organisers expect record engagement as companies and policymakers address the challenges of sustainable logistics.
