Henkel unveils AI-driven battery solutions for faster, greener EV production
Henkel is expanding its battery solutions portfolio with new products and digital tools for electric vehicle manufacturers. At Battery Show Europe 2026, the company will launch Loctite Specialty Tapes, a water-based, low-VOC range designed for battery assembly. The updates also include AI-driven simulation software and advanced functional coatings.
The new Loctite Specialty Tapes handle multiple roles in battery production, including bonding, insulation, shielding, and thermal management. Designed for high-speed, consistent application, they aim to streamline large-scale manufacturing processes.
Alongside the tapes, Henkel is showcasing Bonderite functional coatings. These provide enhanced dielectric strength and thermal resistance, improving reliability in battery and power electronics components. The company is also introducing Loctite Solve, an AI-powered platform that lets engineers simulate adhesive formulations without physical prototyping. The tool supports virtual testing of novel chemistries, reducing development time and material waste. Additionally, Henkel will demonstrate thermally triggered debonding-on-demand technologies. These allow non-destructive separation of bonded battery parts, aiding recycling and maintenance. Frank Kerstan, Head of E-Mobility Europe at Henkel, highlighted that the expanded portfolio creates an end-to-end ecosystem. This approach aims to speed up innovation while cutting risks in battery manufacturing.
The new offerings combine specialty tapes, AI simulation tools, and advanced coatings for battery production. These updates target faster development cycles, improved performance, and more sustainable manufacturing. Henkel’s solutions will be on display at Battery Show Europe 2026.
