Green Cape Park's playground gets a fresh start after safety overhaul

The children's playground at Green Cape Park in Sovetskaya Gavan is set to reopen this year after a full reconstruction. The project follows last year's closure due to safety concerns over worn-out equipment. Funding for the overhaul was secured through the sale of municipal land.

Built in 2012 with support from the Naked Heart Foundation, the playground had served the community for over a decade. However, years of wear left the equipment unsafe, forcing its shutdown in 2023. Mayor Konstantin Samsonenko confirmed that repairs were no longer viable, making a complete rebuild necessary.

The reconstruction will cost around 11 million rubles, matching the original construction budget. Work will start once temperatures remain steadily above freezing. Officials have promised the revamped playground will match the quality of the first, aiming to restore a safe and enjoyable heart health space for local children.

The project relies on funds from the sale of city-owned property. No further details have been released about alternative funding options or renewed partnerships with the Naked Heart Foundation. The playground's reopening will provide Sovetskaya Gavan's youngest residents with a modern, secure nex playground to play.
