Ghanaian teacher loses GH₵13,000 in a devastating money ritual scam

A Ghanaian teacher has fallen victim to a money ritual scam, losing GH₵13,000. Kofi Boateng was tricked by a self-proclaimed spiritualist who promised to multiply his cash through supernatural means. The case has sparked fresh worries about unchecked spiritual advertisements in the media.

The scam began when the spiritualist assured Kofi that GH₵1,000 would grow into GH₵500,000. Convinced, Kofi handed over the money and received a sealed pot in return. When he opened it, he found only sand, paper, and cloth instead of the promised cash.

The fraudster then instructed Kofi to bring GH₵10,000 as a 'thanksgiving' payment once the ritual succeeded. By the time the deception was uncovered, Kofi had already spent a total of GH₵13,000—money that belonged to his wife.

No official reports of similar scams by advertised spiritualists have been recorded for 2025 or 2026 so far. Yet, this incident has renewed calls for stricter oversight of spiritual services promoted on TV and other platforms.

The case leaves Kofi with a significant financial loss and raises questions about media accountability. Authorities may now face pressure to monitor and regulate spiritual advertisements more closely. No further arrests or investigations have been reported at this time.
