Getnet Unveils AI-Powered Payments for a New Era of Commerce

Getnet, Santander’s global merchant payments platform, has launched new AI-powered capabilities. These allow merchants to accept and process payments initiated by AI agents. The solution aims to streamline transactions in an increasingly AI-driven market. The new infrastructure was tested successfully in Mexico and Latin America. Getnet collaborated with Mastercard Agent Pay and Mexican startup Neivor’s AI agent to trial the system. It enables merchants to handle payments directly from their own AI agents or those on conversational platforms.

Built on open standards, the solution is interoperable, secure, and protocol-agnostic. It connects directly to Getnet’s global payments infrastructure, removing the need for complex integrations. Identification and authentication features are included for stronger transaction security.

Initially, the service is available to businesses with their own AI agents. Getnet plans to expand it to smaller businesses and SMEs in the future. The platform also supports compatibility with Visa Intelligent Commerce, with further integrations underway. The launch responds to a growing trend of AI agents acting as assistants for transactions. Getnet aims to create a more open commerce model by securely embedding AI across the payment process. The solution is designed to simplify payments while maintaining high security standards.
