Gelendzhik Mayor Says Fewer Scooters on Seafront, but Problem Persists
Gelendzhik cracks down hard on electric scooters along its seafront promenade
Authorities removed 5,729 scooters from Gelendzhik's seafront promenade in 2025 and another 425 since the start of 2026, but the issue of shared e-scooters remains unresolved. Alexei Bogodistov, the resort city's mayor, announced the update on social media on April 1.
"As we prepare for the tourist season, we are addressing the problem of scooters on the promenade," Bogodistov wrote. "There are fewer personal mobility devices there now, but the issue is not fully resolved. Law enforcement has played a key role in this effort—this year alone, 164 administrative fines have been issued for scooter riding on the promenade. We need to step up enforcement, conduct raids with media involvement, and make it clear to the public that the seafront is a pedestrian-only zone."
He added that the number of traffic signs would be increased and that 29 access ramps to the promenade would be closed to scooters before the summer season begins.
"The legal framework is now in place," Bogodistov noted. "In December, city lawmakers approved no-scooter zones, and we are now sending official notices to scooter operators, demanding compliance with municipal regulations."
Earlier reports indicated that Gelendzhik officials are also studying best practices from other regions, including Blagoveshchensk in Amur Oblast, where a full ban on scooters has been introduced in certain areas.
