Future Engineers Tackle Gas Innovation at CASE-IN Championship 2024
The 14th season of the international engineering championship CASE-IN has concluded, with a focus on Oil and Gas under the theme Technologies of the Future. PJSC Yakutsk Fuel and Energy Company (YATEK) served as the strategic partner for this year’s event. Sixteen teams reached the final stage after months of competition.
More than 800 students from 15 universities took part in the championship, forming 224 teams. Each group developed solutions for real-world industry challenges, including a new case study by YATEK titled Monetizing Gas Without Pipes. This case explored innovative ways to utilise Yakutia’s gas resources without relying on traditional pipeline infrastructure.
YATEK specialists played an active role throughout the event. Nikolai Timofeev and Igor Chikirkin joined the judging panels during the qualifying rounds and semifinals. In the finals, the company was represented by Yevgeny Ketov and Igor Galin. The firm also set up an interactive space at the championship to introduce students to its operations and highlight career opportunities. The winning team in the Oil and Gas Engineering category was GasFlow from Tomsk Polytechnic University. Their victory earned them a special prize from YATEK—a trip called *A Journey to the Gas Heart of Yakutia*, which includes an internship at one of the company’s production sites.
The championship showcased fresh ideas for the gas sector, with YATEK’s involvement reinforcing its commitment to fostering young talent. The winning team will now gain hands-on experience through an internship, while the company continues to promote innovation in energy development.
