Free Smoke Alarms Offered to Large Families in Union Housing Programme
The Union Housing Company has started a new social programme to improve fire safety for residents. The initiative focuses on large families, offering them free autonomous smoke alarms. These devices detect smoke early and sound a loud warning to prevent emergencies.
Large families living in Union-managed buildings can now request a free smoke detector. To qualify, they must visit the company's office at 46 Lenin Avenue. There, they will need to show proof of their large-family status and confirmation of residence in a Union property.
The alarms are designed to trigger at the first sign of smoke, giving families extra time to react. Installation is straightforward, as the devices can be easily mounted on the ceiling without professional help. While fitting them is not compulsory, Union is providing them at no cost to encourage wider use. Yuri Radyukov, director of Union Housing Company LLC, has highlighted the importance of fire prevention for households with multiple children. He noted that these families face greater risks and need extra protection. The company is prioritising them in this programme to help reduce potential dangers in their homes.
The initiative allows large families in Union-managed buildings to get free smoke detectors by visiting the local office. The devices are simple to install and provide an early warning in case of fire. This step aims to improve safety for those most vulnerable to emergencies.
