Blocked tracks due to construction work at the main station - Frankfurt Central Station shuts two platforms for months amid upgrades
Frankfurt Central Station will close platforms 15 and 16 for several months starting February 27, 2023. The shutdown is part of ongoing construction for a new rail bridge. Despite the work, train services will keep running as usual.
The closure follows earlier upgrades at the station. In 2022, platforms 12 and 13 underwent similar renovations, including the replacement of track and platform bridges. This time, the focus shifts to platforms 15 and 16, which will remain out of service until at least July 2023.
Construction barriers will separate the affected platforms from neighbouring ones. Passengers can expect some changes to boarding areas, but no major disruptions to schedules. The project aims to modernise the platform infrastructure while keeping the station operational.
The work is set to finish by mid-2023. Until then, travellers should check for updates on platform changes. The station has confirmed that all routes will remain active throughout the construction period.
