First Phosphate secures $3M in fresh funding ahead of critical deadline
First Phosphate Corp. has secured fresh funding ahead of a key deadline. The company raised over $3 million from the exercise of warrants before they expired. This latest financial boost adds to a series of recent investments totalling more than $62 million since mid-2022.
The firm remains debt-free while expanding its operations in Quebec’s phosphate sector. The company’s flagship asset, the Bégin-Lamarche property, sits in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. This site is recognised as a rare North American source of igneous phosphate, known for its high purity and minimal impurities. Such qualities make it particularly valuable for specialised applications.
First Phosphate focuses on building a fully integrated supply chain for LFP (lithium iron phosphate) batteries. Their target markets span energy storage, data centres, robotics, mobility, and national security. By reshoring production to North America, the company aims to reduce reliance on overseas suppliers.
Financial support has come from multiple sources. In addition to the recent $3,070,549 from warrant exercises, the Canadian federal government contributed a non-repayable, non-dilutive grant of $16.7 million. Since June 2022, the company has raised approximately $62.5 million through private placements and option exercises.
Currently, the company has 179,947,950 common shares outstanding. All remaining warrants, options, and restricted share units are held exclusively by existing staff, management, and board members. With no debt and a strong cash position, First Phosphate continues to advance its phosphate mining and battery production plans. The Bégin-Lamarche property’s high-purity output supports the company’s push into critical North American supply chains. Further updates on development and financing are expected as operations progress.
