A former law enforcement officer in Rostov-on-Don will stand trial on charges of accepting a bribe, according to a statement from the regional investigative department of Russia's Investigative Committee.
Investigators allege that in January 2026, the defendant demanded 100,000 rubles from a witness in a criminal case, purportedly in exchange for ensuring the individual would not face legal consequences.
Authorities detained the woman red-handed while she was receiving the bribe. During searches, officers seized the money along with relevant documents. Forensic examinations were also conducted as part of the investigation. The former police officer has since been remanded in custody.
She is charged under Part 5(b) of Article 290 of Russia's Criminal Code and could face up to 12 years in prison if convicted.
