Elderly man rescued after being trapped inside a car dealership
An 86-year-old man found himself locked inside a car dealership in Marl on Thursday evening. Emergency services were called after he was unable to leave the premises despite the business being open during posted hours.
The incident began when the elderly man attempted to exit the dealership while it was still operating. However, by the time he realised he was trapped, the doors had already been secured. He first tried contacting the dealer's service line but got no reply.
At 5:30 p.m., he dialled emergency services for help. Police and firefighters from Marl quickly arrived at the scene. To free him, crews used a turntable ladder to lift him over the fence surrounding the property. A spokesperson for the fire department later commented, 'That's what we're here for.' The man was rescued unharmed and did not require medical attention.
No charges will be brought against either the dealership or the man following the rescue. Authorities confirmed the situation was resolved without further complications. The incident remains an unusual case in Marl, with no similar past events on public record.
