Direct Maintenance wins American Airlines' Dublin line maintenance contract for Boeing 777 and 787 fleets
Direct Maintenance, operating under the Magnetic Line brand, has secured a line maintenance deal with American Airlines. The agreement covers technical support for Boeing 777 and 787 aircraft at Dublin Airport. Company representatives described the partnership as a major step in their expansion. The contract includes full technical handling for American Airlines' wide-body fleet at Dublin Airport. Services will extend to ETOPS support, ensuring operational reliability for long-haul flights. The airline currently operates 137 Boeing 777 and 787 aircraft, with another 14 Boeing 787-9s on order.
American Airlines runs one of the industry's most demanding schedules, according to Getter Kägu, Commercial Representative at Direct Maintenance. The carrier maintains one to two daily flights to Dublin in winter, scaling up to five per day during peak summer months. Supporting this volume requires both technical expertise and operational flexibility.
To meet the contract's needs, Direct Maintenance will expand its local engineering team. The Dublin station will also relocate to a larger facility at the airport. James Dyer, Station Manager at Direct Maintenance Dublin, called the agreement a strategic addition to their client portfolio.
The deal marks a significant milestone for the company, validating its technical capabilities. It also reflects Direct Maintenance's ability to handle high-frequency wide-body operations. The partnership strengthens Direct Maintenance's position in the aviation maintenance sector. The expanded team and upgraded facilities will support American Airlines' daily operations at Dublin Airport. The contract is set to enhance service reliability for passengers travelling through the hub.
