Many trains will not stop at Frankfurt Central Station due to construction work in the southern part of the city. This affects international ICE services as well as trains to and from Mainz and Wiesbaden.
In May, Deutsche Bahn is closing a rail line in southern Frankfurt for maintenance, the company announced. Construction crews will replace around 1.3 kilometers of track and overhead lines, while two new switches will be installed near Niederrad station.
The affected section runs between Frankfurt-Forsthaus and Frankfurt-Niederrad. The closure begins on May 1 at 9:00 p.m. and is scheduled to end on June 1 at 5:00 a.m. The shutdown will impact both long-distance and regional services.
Trains Bypass Frankfurt Central Station
Long-distance trains between Frankfurt and Karlsruhe/Stuttgart will be rerouted, skipping stops at Frankfurt (Main) Central Station and Mannheim Central Station. Instead, they will call at Frankfurt Süd station.
Services between Frankfurt and Cologne will also face disruptions. International ICE trains to and from Amsterdam/Brussels will run via Frankfurt Airport, bypassing Frankfurt Central Station.
Long-distance trains to and from Mainz will be diverted, with Frankfurt Airport long-distance station no longer served; some services will also skip Mainz Central Station. Connections to and from Wiesbaden will be suspended entirely.
Regional services, including the RB58 between Frankfurt and Hanau, will be affected as well. Instead of running via Frankfurt Central Station, these trains will use Frankfurt-Stadion station.
