Costco opens its first stand-alone gas stations in California and Hawaii

Costco is expanding its fuel services with two new stand-alone gas stations. The first will open in Mission Viejo, California, this summer, followed by a second in Honolulu, Hawaii. Both locations aim to provide members with more fuel options at competitive prices.

The Mission Viejo station, set to open in late June, will be Costco's largest yet. It will feature 40 pumps and operate daily from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Only Costco members will have access.

Local gas prices in Mission Viejo currently range between $5.69 and $6.35 per gallon. The nearest existing Costco station in the area lists fuel at $5.69, while the one in Honolulu charges $4.14. Honolulu's wider market prices sit between $5.14 and $5.59 per gallon. Preparation for the Honolulu station, located in the Kapalama Kai community, began in October 2025. Demolition and site work are still underway, with no confirmed opening date yet. This marks the first time Costco has built gas stations separate from its warehouse locations.

The new stations represent a major step in Costco's fuel business growth. Members in both California and Hawaii will soon have more convenient and potentially cheaper refuelling options. The company has not announced further locations beyond these two projects.
