Cologne Central Station unveils Deutsche Bahn's sleek new travel hub and lounge
Deutsche Bahn has reopened its travel centre at Cologne Central Station after a major renovation. The updated facility now includes 16 service counters spread across 320 square metres. Alongside it, the newly refurbished DB Lounge has also welcomed back passengers with expanded seating and modern amenities. The renovation at Cologne marks the sixth location to adopt Deutsche Bahn's updated design concept. Earlier upgrades took place in Düsseldorf, Nürnberg, Hamburg, and Berlin, where improvements focused on personal service, clearer navigation, and enhanced comfort. Cologne's lounge now features 100 seats split between premium and comfort zones, along with a bar offering coffee specialties in the premium area.
The modernised spaces use warm natural tones and a more intuitive layout. Nationwide, Deutsche Bahn operates 13 lounges, which collectively served around 3.3 million passengers in 2025. Later this year, similar renovations will roll out in Mannheim, Dresden, and Göttingen as part of the ongoing modernisation programme.
The reopened travel centre and lounge at Cologne Central Station reflect Deutsche Bahn's push for improved passenger experience. With more locations set for upgrades, the changes aim to provide better service, clearer orientation, and greater comfort. The expanded facilities are now available for daily use by travellers.
