Chanel's J12 Bleu debuts with bold matte blue ceramic innovation

Chanel has unveiled the J12 Bleu, a striking new addition to its iconic watch collection. The timepiece features an intense matte blue ceramic case, marking the first time this shade has appeared in the J12 series. This latest model builds on over two decades of ceramic innovation and maritime-inspired design. The J12 story began in 2000 when designer Jacques Helleu imagined an all-black sports watch. His vision led to seven years of research, as Chanel developed a high-tech ceramic strong enough for watchmaking. The first J12 launched with a bold black finish, inspired by the sleek hulls of 1930s J-Class racing yachts.

A white ceramic version followed in 2003, expanding the collection's appeal. By 2019, Chanel reworked the J12 with the Calibre 12.1, an automatic movement offering a 70-hour power reserve and COSC certification. The brand's ceramic expertise continued to evolve, introducing new textures and colours.

The 2025 J12 Bleu now brings a deep matte blue to the line-up. This shade reinforces the watch's nautical roots while showcasing Chanel's latest ceramic advancements. The model also features the upgraded Calibre 12.2 movement, maintaining the collection's precision standards. The J12 Bleu combines Chanel's maritime heritage with cutting-edge ceramic technology. Its launch highlights the brand's long-term commitment to refining both design and performance. The watch is now available as part of the expanded J12 collection.
