Bus driver suffers facial fracture in unprovoked Braunschweig attack
An unknown assailant violently attacked a bus driver during his break last Friday morning, leaving him with broken facial bones. The incident occurred at the "Am Jödebrunnen" bus stop in Braunschweig, where the driver—seated in the driver's seat with the window open—was suddenly struck in the face by a man who approached and punched him without warning.
According to a police statement, the attacker is described as a man between 40 and 50 years old, wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, and with black hair. After the assault, he walked away in silence toward the opposite tram stop. A subsequent search for the suspect proved unsuccessful, police confirmed in a press release.
Witnesses Sought
The 56-year-old driver was rushed to the hospital by ambulance, where doctors diagnosed a fracture on the left side of his face. Authorities are now investigating the case as aggravated assault and are appealing for witnesses who may have information about the incident or the attacker. Anyone with relevant details is asked to contact the Süd Police Station at +49 531 476-3515.
