Broadridge's tokenized repo platform hits $7.2 trillion in May transactions
Broadridge Financial Solutions, Inc. has reported a significant rise in activity on its Distributed Ledger Repo (DLR) platform. In May 2023, the system processed an average of $362 billion in daily repo transactions. This marks a major milestone for the tokenized settlement technology. The total volume handled by DLR in May reached $7.2 trillion, up 220% compared to the same month last year. The platform is the world’s largest for settling tokenised real assets using distributed ledger technology.
Horacio Barakat, Global Head of Digital Innovation at Broadridge, linked the growth to the broader push for modernising market infrastructure. He noted that tokenised settlement is becoming a key driver for efficiency in financial operations.
DLR enables firms to enhance liquidity, improve collateral mobility, and optimise capital use without added complexity. Broadridge has also expanded the platform’s capabilities to support tokenised securities and other asset classes. This update allows institutions to manage both traditional and digital markets through one integrated system. The expansion strengthens DLR’s position as a leading platform for institutional settlement. It now supports a wider range of asset types within a unified framework. The surge in transaction volumes reflects growing adoption of tokenised solutions in global finance.
