Over 1,700 students took part in public debates at Brandenburg’s State Parliament last year. The programme, designed to introduce young people to political decision-making, saw strong interest from schools across the region.

Many institutions sent entire classes to observe plenary sessions in 2025. The initiative aims to give pupils first-hand experience of how parliament functions.

The visitor programme for plenary sessions was booked 47 times throughout the year. Schools from various districts participated, with some sending multiple classes per visit. On average, three to five groups attended each session.

Märkisch-Oderland had the second-highest turnout, with 256 students attending. Ostprignitz-Ruppin followed closely, with 206 participants. The Oberhavel district led the way, sending 337 pupils—the largest number from any area. Overall, around 76,500 guests of all ages visited the parliament in 2025. However, not all regions took part. In 2024, no schools from Brandenburg an der Havel, Oder-Spree, or Uckermark attended the programme. The scheme remains open to students from the ninth grade onward. Its focus is on providing direct insight into parliamentary work and political processes.

The 2025 figures highlight strong engagement from schools in Brandenburg. A total of 1,790 students attended debates, with some districts showing particularly high participation. The programme continues to offer young people a practical understanding of state-level politics.
