No Investor: Auto Supplier Boryszew Halts Production - Boryszew Kunststofftechnik to close by year-end, 430 jobs at risk
Boryszew Kunststofftechnik, a major automotive supplier in Saxony-Anhalt, will shut down production by the end of the year. The company, which specialises in interior car components, has failed to secure a long-term investor. Around 430 employees at its plants in Gardelegen and Idar-Oberstein will be affected.
The decision follows months of unsuccessful attempts to find a buyer. The insolvency administrator cited ongoing difficulties in Germany's automotive sector as a key obstacle. Despite these challenges, efforts to attract an investor will continue even as operations wind down.
Boryszew has long been a key supplier, with Volkswagen Group among its primary customers. Its factories produce interior components for vehicles, making it one of the largest automotive suppliers in the region. However, the lack of investment has left the company with no choice but to halt production by December.
The closure will impact roughly 430 workers across two sites. While the search for a financial rescue remains active, the company's future now depends on finding a last-minute solution. Without one, production will cease permanently before 2025.
