Memory Chip Shortage Hinders Bechtle's 2026 Plans - Bechtle posts steady 2025 growth despite tech sector challenges and profit dip

Bechtle has reported steady growth in 2025, despite challenges in the tech sector. The company's total business volume rose by over 8 percent to €8.6 billion, though profits dipped slightly. Management remains cautious about the year ahead due to ongoing market shifts.

In 2025, Bechtle saw revenue climb by just under 2 percent to €6.4 billion. However, pre-tax earnings fell by 6 percent to €324.2 million. The company, which supplies PCs and networking hardware to government and business clients, faced a mixed market environment.

Memory chip prices have surged recently, driven by tight supply and rising demand for AI infrastructure. After a sharp decline in 2023 due to weaker sales of PCs, smartphones, and tablets, the market rebounded strongly in 2024 and 2025. The growth is now fuelled by expensive AI chips, with the sector expected to reach $1 trillion, mostly from servers, data centres, and storage.

Looking forward, Bechtle anticipates revenue and pre-tax earnings growth of 0 to 5 percent in 2026. CEO Thomas Olemotz remains cautious, citing ongoing supply constraints in memory chips. Despite this, the company is well positioned to capitalise on emerging opportunities.

By 2030, Bechtle aims to exceed €10 billion in total business volume—ideally sooner if market conditions improve.

Bechtle's 2025 results reflect modest revenue growth but lower profits. The company's outlook for 2026 remains conservative, with growth projections between 0 and 5 percent. Long-term ambitions include hitting €10 billion in business volume by 2030, depending on market stability and chip supply.
