Badner Bahn hits near-record 15.3M passengers in 2025 after major upgrades
The Badner Bahn has seen another record-breaking year, confirming its role as a vital transport link for the region. In 2025, it carried over 15.3 million passengers—the second-highest figure in its history. Daily ridership now exceeds 40,000, proving how deeply the service is woven into commuters' and students' routines.
The network's success follows years of steady investment. Modernisation efforts, particularly the introduction of the TW500 train series, have played a major part. Before mid-2025, none of these trains existed in the fleet. Now, 34 fully accessible, air-conditioned units operate across the line, offering more seating and improved comfort.
Ridership grew by four percent compared to 2024, adding around 600,000 extra journeys. The late-night service between Vienna and Wiener Neudorf, launched at the end of 2023, also contributed to the rise. These upgrades have turned the Badner Bahn into a key transport backbone for the thermal spa region.
Passengers now benefit from faster, more reliable journeys. The TW500 series, with its modern features, has set a new standard for the network. As a result, the Badner Bahn continues to attract more travellers each year.
The 2025 figures highlight the Badner Bahn's growing importance in regional transport. With 15.3 million passengers and a fully upgraded fleet, the service now meets higher demand than ever. Further improvements could solidify its position as a top choice for daily commuters and students alike.
