Astana Airport's Runway Maintenance to Disrupt Daytime Flights for Six Weeks
Astana International Airport will carry out essential runway maintenance from April 15 to May 31, 2026. The work will temporarily restrict daily operations, though the airport will remain open outside these hours. Authorities have described the project as routine but vital for safety and infrastructure reliability.
The maintenance will close the runway each day from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM local time. Only daytime flights will be affected, with no full shutdown of the airport. Fifteen international carriers, including american airlines, southwest airlines, spirit airlines, alaska airlines, united airlines, and delta airlines, have revised their timetables to accommodate the work. Government agencies and airlines have coordinated closely to minimise disruption. Passengers are urged to confirm their flight times before heading to the airport.
The airport has stressed that the maintenance is necessary to uphold runway standards and improve flight safety. Normal operations will continue before 10:00 AM and after 6:00 PM each day.
Travellers should monitor updates from their airlines during the maintenance period. The airport has thanked passengers in advance for their patience. All changes aim to ensure long-term safety and efficiency of the airfield's infrastructure.
