Amur Region and Megafon Partner to Drive Digital Transformation with AI and IoT
The Amur Region government and telecommunications company Megafon have signed a partnership to introduce digital technologies across key sectors. The agreement focuses on improving public services, environmental oversight, and regional development through advanced tools like artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things (IoT). Governor Vasily Orlov and Megafon CEO Khachatur Pombukhchan formalised the deal, outlining plans to integrate digital solutions into urban planning, governance, and infrastructure. The initiative includes IoT-based monitoring of water supply systems, energy consumption tracking, and real-time environmental oversight.
The partnership will also deploy big data analytics to study migration patterns, tourist movements, and land demand. These insights aim to support infrastructure planning and boost tourism growth in the region. Additionally, AI and automation will streamline routine administrative tasks, increasing efficiency in government agencies. Pombukhchan highlighted the role of digital tools in sustainable development, noting their potential to enhance infrastructure management. Orlov added that these technologies would optimise resource use, improve decision-making, and strengthen urban governance across the Amur Region.
The agreement marks a step toward modernising the region’s public services and environmental systems. By adopting AI, IoT, and big data, the Amur Region expects to improve efficiency in housing, utilities, and tourism. Implementation will begin with pilot projects in key sectors.
