Amur District's youth quest maps local landmarks for a smarter Amursk
Amur District is launching a special quest for young residents on June 19, 2023. The event encourages participants to update Yandex Maps by adding local landmarks in Amursk, the district’s administrative centre. Organisers say the initiative will make the town more accessible and modern for everyone. The quest is led by the Public Youth Chamber under the District Council of Deputies. Young people will follow a set route, identifying and marking important locations on Yandex Maps. The goal is to improve navigation for both residents and visitors.
Yekaterina Smetanina, head specialist of the Amur District’s Youth Policy Department, explained that the project lets young people take an active role in shaping their town. Participants view the quest as a personal contribution to their community. Rewards will be given to the most active contributors. The initiative aims to create a more open, user-friendly Amursk while engaging young residents in local development.
The quest begins on June 19, with participants updating Yandex Maps to highlight key spots in Amursk. The project reflects a growing effort to involve young people in improving their urban environment. Organisers hope the changes will benefit both locals and tourists in the long run.
