Almaty expands bus routes to connect Amangeldi and Koktobe villages
Almaty's public transport network has seen another update with changes to bus routes across the city. Route No. 243 now extends to Amangeldi settlement, offering residents a direct link to the centre. The adjustments follow a series of recent rerouting projects tied to urban development and infrastructure upgrades. The latest modification involves Route No. 243, which has been lengthened to include Amangeldi settlement. This extension provides locals with faster and more efficient travel options into the heart of Almaty.
Since March 2024, at least 10 bus lines have undergone changes due to ongoing construction and city planning. On March 1, 2026, routes №84А and №241 were adjusted to accommodate the Almaty Arena and Nurkent area developments. Later, on March 26, routes №19 and №56 were rerouted because of heat network reconstruction along Zharokova Street. Another wave of updates came on March 16, 2026, when 10 routes—including №16, №48, and №224—were temporarily altered for Nauryz celebrations.
Route No. 225 has also seen improvements, with its terminal stop now located at Koktobe village. This shift aims to give passengers better access to major destinations throughout the city. City authorities are encouraging passengers to check the updated routes before travelling. The changes reflect ongoing efforts to adapt transport services to Almaty's evolving infrastructure. Residents can expect further adjustments as urban development projects continue.
