Allstate's New Camera System Cuts False Claims in German Workshops
A new automated camera system from Allstate is helping German workshops avoid false damage claims and improve efficiency. Developed by CheckSnap GmbH, the technology captures detailed vehicle images during intake and release. The solution is designed for independent garages, dealerships, and service centres looking to streamline documentation.
The CheckSnap system was created by Christian Uthoff, managing director of Uthoff KLS GmbH. His goal was to protect workshops from disputed claims while simplifying workflows. The company, based in Steinheim am Albuch, is co-founded by Sonja Uthoff and Thomas Frömel.
The system uses eight cameras to document vehicles from fixed angles. Four high-resolution DSLR images and four 4K wide-angle shots are taken automatically. Each image is timestamped, saved, and linked to the vehicle via license plate recognition.
Workshops receive a standard package for €14,990, which includes one year of updates, a support hotline, and cloud backup. Optional extensions can cover up to three years. The setup requires no complex IT integration and is ready to use immediately after installation.
CheckSnap also provides personalised assistance for camera placement and system configuration. The tamper-proof images help with quality control and reduce disputes over pre-existing damage.
The system is now available to independent workshops, body shops, and tyre services across Germany. Its automated documentation aims to cut administrative work and prevent costly claim disputes. Customers can also purchase additional accessories separately if needed.
