Aboitiz Renewables is expanding disaster preparedness across the Philippines by providing training and equipment to remote communities. The company’s latest efforts include first aid workshops, fire safety courses, and donations of specialised tools to improve emergency response.

The initiative aims to strengthen local capabilities during critical moments, particularly in the 'golden hour' when quick action can save lives. In Barangay Buhawen, San Marcelino, Zambales, nearly 200 teachers, parents, and Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) completed first aid training organised by Aboitiz Renewables. Angelina Ladringan, an Aeta BHW, explained that the programme now allows them to deliver immediate care and better protect their community in emergencies.

Meanwhile, in Tiwi, Albay, the company partnered with the Bureau of Fire Protection for a three-day fire brigade course. Employees gained hands-on experience in fire suppression and search and rescue, preparing them to act as first responders.

The company also extended support to the Visayas, donating ₱105,800 worth of emergency equipment to the Calatrava Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) in Negros Occidental. In Pangasinan, Aboitiz Renewables provided ₱497,200 in motorised sprayers and grass cutters to local groups. These tools will help maintain firebreaks and prevent wildfires from spreading to residential areas.

Alexander Coo, Chief Operating Officer of Aboitiz Renewables, emphasised that the company’s safety culture should reach beyond its operations and into host communities. By sharing industrial safety expertise, the firm ensures remote areas have both the skills and resources to handle crises effectively. The programmes combine training and equipment donations to build local resilience against environmental hazards. Communities in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao now have improved tools and knowledge to respond during emergencies. The efforts focus on reducing risks and saving lives in critical situations.
