A7 Motorway Repairs Underway After Two Accidents Near Seesen

Repair work on the A7 motorway near Seesen, towards Hanover, has begun after two recent accidents. Traffic has been restricted to one lane since last Friday afternoon. Authorities now urge drivers to follow the 80 km/h speed limit in the construction zone. The first incident occurred on June 11, followed by a more serious accident on June 12. A truck fire caused diesel and fire-extinguishing agents to leak into the ground. This required the removal and replacement of contaminated soil over a 100-metre stretch.

The affected section spans about 1.5 kilometres. Crews are replacing the open-pored asphalt and sealing layer to restore the road surface. Via Niedersachsen has confirmed the work should finish by next Wednesday, June 17, when all three lanes will reopen.

The estimated cost of repairs falls in the low to mid six-figure range. The aim is to return traffic to normal as quickly as possible. The work is expected to wrap up by June 17, with full access restored. Drivers are reminded to stay alert and respect the reduced speed limit. The repairs address both surface damage and environmental contamination from the recent accidents.
