Full closure on the A4 near Dresden on Saturday - A4 motorway to close for 3.5 hours Saturday for new sign installation
A stretch of the A4 motorway will shut completely for three and a half hours early on Saturday. The closure affects the section between Wilsdruff and Dresden-West, starting at 2:00 AM. Drivers heading towards Görlitz will need to follow a signed detour during this time.
The overnight shutdown is required to build a new overhead sign gantry. Traffic will be diverted at the Wilsdruff exit and sent along detour 17, rejoining the motorway at the Dresden-Gorbitz junction on the A14.
This closure is part of a wider series of works planned for the area. In early March 2026, a four-week project will install a new transition light on the same stretch. Further disruptions include asphalt renewal near the Freihamer Brücke, running from March 10 to April 5. Nighttime lane closures and 60 km/h speed limits will apply in the Dresden direction during this period.
Between March 15 and March 25, barrier installation works will also take place on the A4 towards Chemnitz. This section, between exit 75 and the Dresden West junction, will face similar nighttime restrictions.
The full closure on Saturday morning will last until 5:30 AM. Drivers are advised to plan ahead, as additional works over the coming weeks will cause further delays. Detailed diversion routes and speed limit changes will be clearly signposted throughout the affected areas.
