Police in Seesen have launched criminal proceedings against a young motorist for participating in an illegal street race, according to an official press statement.
Just before midnight on Tuesday, officers were patrolling Route B248 from Seesen toward the B82 when they spotted a car traveling at an evidently excessive speed in oncoming traffic. The police immediately turned their patrol vehicle around and gave chase, but despite pushing their car to its technical limits, they were unable to close the gap.
Charges Filed Against 19-Year-Old
Since the officers had recorded the vehicle's license plate, they tracked down the registered owner's address in Seesen. There, they not only located the Volkswagen Golf but also found the 19-year-old driver responsible, police confirmed. A subsequent check led to the initiation of criminal proceedings. Authorities noted that the young man showed little remorse. The driver's licensing office has been notified of the incident. Police reported no endangerment to third parties.
